(no subject)

people fear what they don't understand.

Not necessarily. Sometimes we hate what we don't understand. I don't understand the FoH, but that isn't why I fear them. I fear them because they, like pretty much anyone who wanted to, could take me out in a back alley somewhere and beat the crap out of me just to prove a point. I hate them because I don't understand their point.

but they fear us because they don't understand what we can do.

it doesn't matter that it may be nonviolent, it's DIFFERENT.

people fear what is different as well. mutants are different. indians are different. goths are different.

the question is, what is the norm?

So we show them what we can do.

I've been trolling around the internet, there's a FoH rally coming up in the next few weeks. Completely aboveboard, permit and everything. I've been looking into possibly organizing a HeliX presence there, permits and all. If they deny a permit for us, that's a cut-and-dried discrimination suit right there.

They want to spout off, fine. We can show we're not afraid, we're not going away, and we're not going to change because of them.

Is it? Mutants aren't a protected class.

Perhaps not, but they're still covered by the Bill of Rights. And we've got more than enough political clout to make things very, very awkward on a variety of levels.

It's not all as hopeless and black as some of you might think.

Yeah, because civil rights groups have always had such amazing success by waving around the Constitution. That thing was written to protect the white Christian heterosexual baseline man. Not us.

It worked fine when Clarice was turned down for the EMT job because she was a mutant.

They're not the only ones who can interpret the law to suit their ends. And I for one am tired of watching them do it. I'll respect the rights of the individuals concerned to not press charges, but the matters I can take up, I will.
